"To facilitate specific, actionable and measurable revitalization initiatives to enhance the quality of life in Terrebonne Parish."
That's not just the purpose of the Hache Grant Association, but the promise we made to Terrebonne. Our first initiative, the Houma Bandstand, was completed and donated to the parish on its bicentennial celebration without costing the taxpayer a dollar. Thanks to the community support and sponsors of our fundraising events, we now have this beautiful addition to the courthouse square.
The HGA is continuing its "Start at the Heart" revitalization campaign with a focus on a main artery of our town, Bayou Terrebonne. Many downtowns have historic buildings and nice scenery, but few are lucky enough to have a natural waterway running alongside Main Street like we do in Houma. We believe it's time to leverage, maintain and develop that God-given asset in another effort to enhance the quality of life in our town.
The funds raised at the 2024 Bayou Terrebonne Boucherie will go towards the efforts to construct the trailhead pictured in this awesome mockup by Murals by Kassie Voisin of the Bayou Terrebonne Paddle Trail. The first of its kind in Terrebonne Parish, it will give residents and tourists access to the bayou like never before with a series of floating docks and launches beginning in Downtown Houma. By building the first floating launch in Houma, we'll promote not only the health of our citizens in a fun way unique to our region but also the health of our town's main artery, Bayou Terrebonne.
The Houma Courthouse Square Bandstand was completed In October 2022 and was dedicated to the Terrebonne Parish’s Bicentennial Celebration!
This structure is truly one that was built for the community by the community. There are countless people who have donated their time, money and effort to give the whole town a beautiful public amenity to enjoy. The band stand helps celebrate our unique culture and is the center of celebration of downtown events at the court house square.
This project could have not have been completed without the steadfast dedication and expertise of architect Merlin Lirette of The Merlin Group, Ltd. and contractor Allen Porche Jr. of Gulf Coast Contracting Services, Inc., along with the cooperation of the Houma Downtown Development Corporation and the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government.
We thank you Houma for supporting us in this endeavor. Lache Pas La Patate!
